Does it feel like everything went “curbside” in the past few years? We can buy online and pick up everything from hardware to groceries. It’s no surprise that food service has gone the same way. After all, sometimes it’s nice to have a meal ready to go without having to spend time scrubbing dishes afterward. And even though table service is nice, there’s something comforting about dining at home with our family and friends.
So, if you’re looking for meals to go in Park City, Utah, I’ve got some tips for you. I have done carryout meals from Saltbox and Hearth and Hill for Christmas and Mother’s Day and both were excellent. It was nice to just spend time with my family rather than cooking and cleaning. Of course, you can do carryout from any restaurant. But I’m talking about family-style meals to-go. Here are some of my favorites.
Best Grab and Go or Reheat Family Dinners, Park City Style
Windy Ridge
This deal has been around for as long as I can remember. Windy Ridge’s “Dinner Package To Go” serves four and lets you choose an entree (most of which also include sides). All packages come with a mixed green salad and their signature focaccia bread. Additional sides can be added for a fee. Orders begin at 3:00 p.m. and can be picked up after 5:00 p.m.
Deer Valley Café
Formerly known as the Deer Valley Grocery Café, you’ll find a gourmet deli, signature soups, baked goods and even catering for breakfast or lunch. For an easy dinner option, you can check their grab-and-go section to find frozen meals that can be easily reheated. Pizzas, lasagna, enchiladas and chicken and mushrooms are typical meals.
Salt Box
Brought to you by longtime Park City luxury dining favorite Riverhorse on Main, Salt Box is a Prospector Square-based eatery with wonderful and nutritious offerings for family meals to-go. The meals serve four and can be prepared hot or cold (to be reheated at home). Your family will love the Shrimp Scampi Skewers, Ricotta Stuffed Portabello Lasagna, Chicken Parmesan or many more of their rotating menu. Keep an eye on their website for special event menus such as Super Bowl and Thanksgiving.
Heber Option: Back 40
From chicken and meatloaf to grilled salmon, the Back 40 Ranch House Grill in Heber is a great option to feed a crew of 2 or 4. Their food is made with fresh, local ingredients whenever possible, such as local Circle Bar Ranch beef used in burgers, chili and steaks and Heber Valley Cheese used in their mac n’ cheese. Order online and pick up between 4:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. — they’ll even run it out to your car.
Luna’s Kitchen
A gluten-free kitchen and bakery, Luna’s offers quality ingredients for every mood. In addition to their regular menu, they have an extensive selection of “oven ready meals” that come frozen. From soups and sauces to cinnamon rolls and lasagna, you’ll find it all in the easy-to-reheat department. They also offer party platters with 24 hours’ notice.
Ghidotti’s
Ghidotti’s is a favorite of the Bill White Restaurant Group. They’ve been serving Italian food in the Park City area since 2005. Offering Dinner Packages To Go, choose from five pasta options that will fill your party of 2 to 4. All packages come with salad and freshly baked focaccia bread. For larger groups, they also offer half and full sheet items that serve 12 to 24 people.
Nosh
A modern Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Restaurant, Nosh has a diverse menu with traditional and modern dishes, and the falafel is out of this world. They offer family meals to-go with the choice of 2 or 4 servings. These platters are absolutely fabulous and the great thing about this Israeli style cuisine is that it doesn’t always need to be served warm — making it a great choice for a picnic, tailgate or outdoor concert.
Vessel Kitchen
Founded in 2006 in Park City, Vessel offers family meals on their seasonally rotating menu. Options might include pulled pork, roasted chicken, braised beef or steelhead trout. They have epic side dish options so you can find something for everyone. Vessel also caters, and has special menus during the holidays to feed your crew.
Of course, PIZZA is the original family meal to-go. We wrote about Park City’s best pizza in a previous blog, and that’s where you’ll find 14 of the best slices around!
