If you’re looking for fun things to do in Park City as a non-skier (or one that needs a day to rest their legs!), this list has you covered. While activities like fat biking and yoga in a crater require a bit of energy, others, such as dog sledding and sipping cocktails, give you a chance to sit back and enjoy. Whatever you’re in the mood for, you’ll see that Park City has much more to offer than our must-ski resorts.
1. Snow Tubing
Rather than spending half a day seeking a steep hill and scouring local stores to find enough sleds for your crew, I recommend you head to Woodward Park City to enjoy their impressive snow tubing park. Tubing is a fun activity for skiers and non-skiers of almost any age. All you need to do is dress warm, buy your ticket, and board the conveyor belt that brings you up the mountain. You can gather with your group at the top to head back down together or take a solo run to see if you can catch some air.
2. Woodward
Woodward also offers plenty of space and gear rentals for many other year-round and winter activities, including:
- Indoor skateboarding, rollerblading, BMX biking, and scooter riding
- Playing on trampolines and in foam pits
- Practicing parkour in designated zones
- Daily skiing and snowboarding until 7 PM
If you’re game to let your kids go for it while you take a break, there are several seating areas and two in-house eateries. The Hive and The Grind Cafe offer a variety of traditional favorites, vegan and vegetarian options, grab-and-go snacks, cocktails, and coffees.
3. Snowmobiling
If you still want to see Park City’s famous snow even though you don’t ski, snowmobiling is a great way to wake up in crisp winter air while taking in gorgeous backcountry views. The majority of snowmobile excursions are guided for safety, and I recommend you choose an outfitter that brings enough hot chocolate for everyone.
4. Ice Fishing
Looking for a unique outdoor adventure you can tell your friends about? Ice fishing is an excellent non-ski activity in Park City that accommodates groups of any age and fitness level. Local companies offer packages that include everything from gear rentals, chairs, and heated tents to snacks, hot cocoa, and transportation services. You’ll stay warm and cozy while you fish and have fun photos to share after you get back to your hotel or when you sit down for a hot meal.
5. Ice Skating
Park City has both indoor and outdoor ice skating opportunities, giving you a chance to skate even if the weather isn’t great. Park City Mountain has an outdoor resort center ice rink right at its base, and once you’re done, you enjoy a scenic lift ride up to Mid Mountain Lodge—no skis necessary. For those looking to stay warm while watching their kids go round and round, I recommend you hit up the Olympic-size Park City Ice Arena. The ice arena offers open skate, private lessons, group rates, and seasonal kids’ camps.
6. Dog Sledding
What could be better than resting your legs and cuddling your kiddo or special someone as you take in stunning scenery behind a team of happy pups? Park City offers a variety of dog sledding adventures that are sure to make you smile and give you a bit of a thrill.
7. Fat Biking
While you may think of mountain biking as a summer activity, fat biking is a fun winter adventure on two tires instead of two skis. With trail grooming provided by local organizations like Mountain Trails Foundation, Park City offers established singletrack networks in Round Valley, Bonanza Flat, and Clark Ranch. Most loops are under five miles long, but with a little planning using Park City Trail’s interactive winter map, riders can link multiple biking trails together for longer outings.
8. SUP Yoga in a Crater
While I’m all for a spa day, there’s something special about getting relaxation alongside a bit of a workout. Park City Yoga Adventures offers stand-up paddleboard (SUP) yoga in Homestead Crater, located just outside Park City. The beehive-shaped rock formation surrounds a geothermal hot spring with water temperatures averaging between 90 and 96 degrees Fahrenheit. If trying to balance in tree pose while paddleboarding proves more challenging than expected, you can simply soak or swim in the hot spring’s therapeutic waters.
9. Utah Olympic Park
Curious about Park City’s rich Olympic history? Utah Olympic Park offers guided tours as well as self-directed museum strolls, and adventure-seeking visitors can barrel down the mountain by booking a bobsled ride. But that’s not all—the Olympic Park also offers incredibly beautiful views of Park City mountains and trails right from the parking lot.
10. Historic Main Street
For a day of charming Park City historic scenery plus plenty of shopping, nothing beats Main Street. This postcard-worthy area offers dozens of unique boutiques, an interactive museum (definitely worth a visit), and an ample variety of family-friendly restaurants and fun places to have a cocktail.
11. Wildlife
Yes, Utah’s “The Greatest Snow on Earth” slogan adorns license plates all over town, but our high-quality snow isn’t just beloved by people. These mountains are also home to a wide variety of four-legged friends, including elk, moose, bears, and bobcats. It’s not uncommon to see these and other types of Park City wildlife while snowshoeing or simply driving, just remember the only safe way to enjoy their beauty is from afar. Never try to touch or approach any wildlife you encounter.
12. Kimball Art Center
Kimball Art Center is another fun-for-the-whole-family destination. It’s open daily, and you can enjoy the main gallery stroll for free. Check out their current schedule to see what’s on display, sign up for classes for young children and adults, or plan a private event for your whole group.
Fun Activities Are What Park City Is All About
If you’re planning a trip to Park City, I recommend you keep this list of activities for non-skiers handy. Be sure to make reservations for anything you absolutely don’t want to miss, and if you aren’t used to cold winter temperatures and ample snowfall, check our guide on what to pack for your trip. With a bit of planning and an interest in adventure, I know skiers and non-skiers alike will love exploring all the fun things to do in Park City.
