1. Ride the Heber Valley Railroad
Climb aboard the historic Heber Valley Railroad, also known as the “Heber Creeper,” and take in stunning views of the Wasatch Mountains and Deer Creek Reservoir. This vintage train offers themed rides throughout the summer, such as the Princess & Pirate Train or the Wizard’s Train.
2. Soak in the Homestead Crater
Head to the Homestead Resort in Midway and soak in the geothermal Homestead Crater. This hot spring is 10,000 years old and is a great place for a soothing mineral bath. You can also do paddleboard yoga and scuba dive in the 96-degree water.
3. Tee Off at a Public Golf Course
The Heber Valley has beautiful public golf courses, including Wasatch Mountain and Soldier Hollow. With cooler summer temps and jaw-dropping views, it’s hard to beat a round of golf here.

4. Go Retro at Holiday Lanes
Sometimes, a break from the outdoors is just what the family needs. Holiday Lanes, Heber’s old-school bowling alley, is the perfect spot for rainy days or evening fun. It’s also a great way to meet locals and enjoy a slice of small-town charm. You will feel like you are stepping back in time in this 60s-style bowling alley.
5. Cheese Tasting at Heber Valley Artisan Cheese
This family-run creamery in Midway produces some of the best cheese in Utah. Stop by the farm store for a tasting or time your visit to join a farm-to-table event. Dairy tours are offered where you can see one of the first robotic milking systems in the Western US. The creamery is also home to my favorite ice cream!

6. Explore Soldier Hollow
Soldier Hollow is a hub for warm-weather fun. Although known as a Winter Olympics venue, in the summer, it offers bike rentals, summer camps, and an 18-hole golf course. If you are looking for a way to prepare for cross-country skiing in the winter, Devo training will keep you fit all year long. Plus, it’s the site of the popular Soldier Hollow Classic Sheepdog Championship every Labor Day weekend.
7. Hike, Bike, or Horseback Ride
With hundreds of miles of trails in the Dutch Hollow Trail system, Wasatch Mountain State Park, and beyond, Heber Valley is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Even if you have never been horseback riding, equestrian centers like Rocky Mountain Outfitters or KB Horses can provide you with lessons and tours.

8. Fly Down Zipline Utah
Adrenaline seekers, take note: Zipline Utah offers one of the longest continuous ziplines in the world and the longest zipline in the world over water at Deer Creek Reservoir. If you are up for more of a challenge, try out one of the adventure courses. This is a heart-pumping way to experience the landscape from a whole new perspective.
9. Fish the Provo River
Fly fishing on the Provo River is a rite of passage for many who visit or live in Heber Valley. Known for its plentiful trout and peaceful scenery, you are sure to catch something on the Provo River, whether you’re an expert angler or trying it out for the first time. Don’t forget to get your fishing license before heading out.
