A History of Excellence
A Major Expansion Announced
In a groundbreaking move, Deer Valley Ski Resort recently unveiled an ambitious expansion plan that promises to elevate the mountain experience to new heights. A multi-faceted project is set to transform the resort with expansive new terrain, a state-of-the-art base area, modern amenities and the timeless allure of its pristine slopes.
Fun Fact
The largest increase of skiable terrain in resort history, the expansion will include 15 new chairlifts, a 10-passenger gondola and 135 ski runs. The expansion will take place over two phases, with phase one planned for 2025-2026. The full build represents an astonishing 65% increase in terrain, and is best visualized with the below table.
Modern New Village with Alternate Access via Route 40
“New Village” as it is being called for now, will feature a state-of-the-art skier services facility for ski school, rentals, retail and dining. 1,200 day parking spaces will help accommodate for the additional usage, while an ice skating facility and the largest ski beach in North America are sure to be crowd pleasers.
Fun Fact
One of the most notable aspects of this impressive new base area has got to be the location, which provides an alternate arrival option to the resort via Highway 40. This ensures that visitors have convenient means of reaching the mountain, and will surely help to alleviate some of the bottleneck to get to the resort via Park City. It also opens up new real estate opportunities for the Deer Valley skier, via nearby Heber, Midway and the Jordanelle Parkway area. The New Village itself will have nearly 1,700 residential units and 800 hotel rooms across multiple properties.
Renovations of Existing Areas
Not only is Deer Valley more than doubling its skiable acreage, it’s doubling down on transforming existing areas, too. It all starts with Snow Park Village. Plans for a world-class base, a state-of-the-art transit hub, exciting new retail, dining and apres ski offerings, and underground parking all aimed at maximizing your fun on the slopes. The Snow Park project is estimated to be completed in 2029-2030.
In addition to the 2023-2024 dining updates we wrote about previously, you can expect a continued effort to refresh existing dining and ski lodge options. The resort is investing millions in grooming and snowmaking (“the Deer Valley difference”) and has a new bike park and reimagined concert venue.
My take
What do you think about these new changes coming to Deer Valley? I for one am excited about them. The expansion, especially the addition of the New Village and Portal with alternate access via Highway 40, is going to make it even easier to be a Deer Valley skier who doesn’t live in Park City proper. These changes mark a promising chapter in the resort’s legacy, which was set forth by founder Edgar Stern. I am genuinely excited about the heightened luxury and accessibility these changes will bring.
My partners and I have extensive knowledge on these areas and we would be happy to discuss real estate investment opportunities for the expanded Deer valley area. Reach out to set up a time.
