Located two exits west of Kimball Junction, Woodward Park City is a wonderland for any action sports enthusiast or thrill seeker. With indoor and outdoor facilities, there’s no shortage of fun.
Woodward Park City Facility Highlights
Woodward’s indoor facility features trampolines, foam pits, skate parks, and airbags to help guests and athletes progress in skateboarding, skiing, parkour, rollerblading, scootering, biking, and acrobatics, to name a few. From mellow to massive, there’s something for every level of participant.
Adults and kids are welcome to use the facilities at Woodward. However, the majority of participants are in their teens to 20s. Participants aged 6 and older can enjoy the whole facility, and there is an area just for kids under 6 so they don’t get squashed by bigger participants.
Creating a community around action sports involves all ages, but adults need a space to progress with like-minded people, too. Woodward offers Adult Nights for anyone over 18 every Tuesday from 8 pm to 9 pm. Many local and national teams use Woodward’s facilities to train for competition, and athletes often can be found doing mind-bending stunts off a super-sized launch ramp into a foam pit or too many flips to count on the trampolines.
You don’t have to be an athlete to enjoy participating in progression. Specialized action sports coaches float around the indoor facility and are more than happy to help you progress safely. Kids love the trampolines and foam pit, and parents have more fun than they expect joining in. If you’re not much of a thrill seeker or just want to watch, there are plenty of viewing areas with seating overlooking the skatepark, foam pit, and trampoline areas.
All-Season Outdoor Features at Woodward Park City
Woodward’s summer outdoor areas include lift-access biking, skateparks, and a pump track. If downhill mountain biking is your thing, there are a variety of trails with different sized jumps, berms, and features consistently maintained by the trail crew.
Summer camps for kids aged 7 to 17 are super popular and typically run from June to August. These week-long day camps are offered in a variety of sports, including skateboarding, scooter, mountain biking, parkour, BMX, and multi-sport. The multi-sport camp is the most popular and kids get to try out skateboarding, scooter, parkour, and BMX all in one week.
When the snow falls, tubing and skiing ramp up for the winter season. Winter is the busiest season at Woodward, with most visitors participating in tubing, skiing, and snowboarding.
A family and kid-favorite activity at Woodward is tubing because it’s easy to access and there is an option for using shorter lanes, perfect for younger ones who might not be ready for the full-speed experience. Tubing sessions sell out during peak season around the holidays and weekends, so plan your visit in advance!
For those looking to further their skills in park skiing and snowboarding, there are a variety of programs and lessons available with knowledgeable coaches. If you’ve never been on skis or a snowboard before and want to learn without breaking the bank, Woodward has affordable group lessons perfect for beginners of all ages.
Dining and Beverage Options
Besides being a great place to train, I really enjoy Woodward Park City’s food selection and barista skills. There are plenty of food and beverage options in the cafeteria and café. “The Hub” or cafeteria found on the main floor serves a seasonally updated menu that typically features burgers, wraps, pizza, and killer tacos. Upstairs from the main floor, “The Grind” serves coffee and nonalcoholic and alcoholic beverages. A variety of snacks and bites, like warm pretzels and bagels, are also served daily.
Woodward Events and Community Engagement
Woodward partners with local schools and organizations like the Youth Sports Alliance to encourage participation and awareness of action sports. Events like community nights where local vendors come and show their support for the Park City community.
When To Visit and What to Bring
Woodward is open all year round. While typical hours are from 10 am to 8 pm, you should check their website for updated hours as they change for events going into spring and fall. If you’re interested in doing wheeled sports, helmets are required. If you don’t have a helmet, they are available to rent along with skis, snowboards, skateboards, scooters, bikes, and rollerblades.
My Experience at Woodward
As an athlete who trains in the discipline of park skiing, I really appreciate a local indoor facility that can be used year-round. Pretty much all the ramps and skateparks can be used by any kind of wheeled sport, which makes it awesome for progressing in more than one discipline. To prepare for the ski season, I like using the trampolines and foam pits to learn new tricks before taking them to rollerblades and eventually on snow.
The mega ramp is by far my favorite area indoors because I can practice aerial maneuvers with less consequence, no snow required. When the outdoor terrain parks open during the winter, I like using the large jump line because other resorts typically don’t build a full slopestyle course with decent-sized jumps. I also like being able to train or warm up inside and then immediately being able to go outside and do the same tricks on snow.
As a skateboarder, I also love the big indoor park and smaller corners around the facility because there is always something new to try. I really enjoy going during adult night to train because it’s less crowded, and everyone is super supportive of every little victory.
