If you are a current property owner in the Park City area, you received a notice of assessed value from the Summit County Assessor. Wasatch County property owners received a similar notice. The assessed value does not equal the market value of your home. However, if the assessed value is higher than the market value, you may submit an appeal.
Appeals will be accepted by the Assessor until September 15, 2011. The appeal must include either an appraisal dated close to January 1, 2011 or comparable sales data justifying the value of your property as less than the assessed value as of January 1, 2011. There are special forms on the Assessor’s website that must be completed.
As a service to my clients and friends, I have researched comparable sales and assisted in the preparation of appeals. If you are unsure about the value of your property, please feel free to give me a call or send me an email. I am happy to help.
Remember, appeals are due on September 15, 2011, so please allow enough time for me to conduct the research necessary to assist you. For additional information, see the Assessor’s website at: http://www.summitcounty.org/assessor/boe.php
