Inspired by a blog I wrote two years ago and recently updated for my book, Park City Explorer, pizza is always a hot topic!
Everyone has a different style of pizza that they love, especially if they hail from Chicago or New York! One thing most Parkites agree on is that the pizza isn’t going to be the same as those famed locales. Nevertheless, there are some great pies to enjoy. Here are a few.
Pizza Places in Park City
Red Banjo Pizza
Located on Historic Main Street, Red Banjo is Park City’s oldest business. Red Banjo opened in 1962 and pre-dates Park City as a ski town. Four generations and more than 60 years later, it specializes in hand-tossed fresh baked pizzas made daily from scratch. Red Banjo offers pizza (including a gluten-free and cauliflower option), sandwiches, pasta, salads and a full bar. They also deliver locally.
The Brass Tag
The Brass Tag is one of those restaurants easy to forget about because it’s located inside of The Lodges at Deer Valley, a condo hotel. We recently took our family there with two little ones, and it was a great casual option for Deer Valley dining. The open brick oven is visible from the dining tables, and the pizza is wonderful. They also offer contemporary Italian cuisine including pumpkin ravioli, campanelle primavera, and salmon. The enchanting indoor atmosphere harkens back to Park City’s silver mining heritage. It’s quiet enough for conversation, and parking is easy and plentiful at The Lodges. A full bar, beer, and wine are available.
Este Pizzeria
Este Pizzeria specializes in New York–style pizza with homemade hand-tossed dough and vegan items. They are located in the Prospector Square neighborhood.
Fuego Bistro and Pizzeria
This restaurant, also in the Prospector Square neighborhood, opened 2006 to provide high-quality food at an affordable price to Parkites. It has a full, delicious menu that goes beyond pizza. The owners buy locally and organically when possible to support the local economy. For dine-in, Fuego has a charming neighborhood atmosphere and a full bar! It also offers to-go options and has a couple of delivery partners.
BoneyardSaloon
Boneyard’s food, including its pizza, is prepared on a wood-fired grill. Boneyard is a local’s favorite place to watch a game, sample a local beer, or try a glass of wine. You must be 21 or older to enter Boneyard.
VersanteHearth & Bar
This Italian restaurant is located in the Park City Peaks Hotel and serves up wood-fired pizza, pasta, local craft beer, and cocktails. It’s kind of off the beaten path and generally easy to get reservations. Its menu includes more than pizza, and everything is delicious. Parking is easy and plentiful.
Silver Star Café
Silver Star Cafe is a rustic cafe with award-winning roots cuisine—a contemporary, from-scratch, diverse expression of regional foods and flavors of the American melting pot. The eatery serves beer, wine, and cocktails, it’s open for lunch and dinner, and reservations are recommended. You can ski into Silver Star Cafe from the Silver Star chairlift at Park City Mountain. Silver Star Cafe was featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives show on the Food Network.
Maxwell’s East Coast Eatery
Maxwell’s is an East Coast–inspired Italian eatery serving thin-crust New York-style pizzas in lively digs with a sports bar scene. It also serves wings, pasta, and salads in addition to its famous “Fat Kid Pizza.” It’s located in Kimball Junction, and parking is convenient.
Pizza in Heber Valley
The Junction
The Junction serves comfort food in a casual dine-in experience. The owner’s goal has always been to create, produce, and serve great, full-flavored food. The menu goes beyond pizza with burgers, sandwiches, wings, and salads. There’s something for everyone, including gluten-free crust. Located in Heber City.
Café Galleria
Café Galleria serves wood-fired pizza in addition to rustic Italian food in a historic 1898 building on Midway’s Main Street. Check out the Alpenglobes, which are open in the winter. If you are not familiar with Alpenglobes, they are globe-like glass domes that cover outdoor dining tables. They allow visitors to stay warm while enjoying the outdoor views. You must make reservations to dine in an Alpenglobe.
Kamas Pizza Place
Summit Pizza Co.
Located in Kamas, owners, Dan and Marcene Littledike purchased the Summit Hotel building in 1989 and converted the downstairs into a pizza parlor. They search for the best local ingredients as well as import the finest cheeses and meats to maintain quality and freshness. They spent 10 years creating the perfect dough and sauce. This pizzeria has won “Best in State” numerous times. They offer gluten-free crusts. Their pizza is so good, it’s worth the drive to Kamas.
Pizza in Coalville
Annie B’s Pizzeria
The chef of the now defunct Vinto restaurant in Park City opened her own restaurant, Annie B’s, located in Coalville It is a small take-out restaurant with no indoor seating. It serves pizza, wings, salads, and sandwiches.
Best Pizza in Salt Lake City
Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana[SK1]
Established in 2005, Settebello was one of the first pizzerias in the U.S. to recreate pizza Napoletana as it has been made in Naples for centuries. I’ve been told this is the best pizza in Utah, but I haven’t made it there yet.
